Acronyms and jargon buster

Below you will find some common acronyms and phrases that may require further clarification. We will be adding further terms to the table below as the website develops. Please do contribute to the development of this if you have any useful suggestions to offer. You can edit this page and forward it to others.

C4EO - Centre for Excellence and Outcomes

CAMHS - Children and Adolescent Mental Health Services

WCC - World Class Commissioning. World class commissioning will deliver a more strategic and long-term approach to commissioning services, with a clear focus on delivering improved health outcomes.

Commissioning Champion - A Commissioning Champion is the nominated lead for the commissioning work in each Children’s Trust. Commissioning Champions are senior individuals within the local authority or PCT – for example an Assistant Director (commissioning). They will receive direct Programme support through the Local Lead.

NEET - This refers to young people who are not in employment, education or training.

CAA - Comprehensive Area Assessments (the new assessment regime from the Audit Commission)

CSED - Care Services Efficiency Delivery

CSIP - Care Services Improvement Partnership

CSN - Children’s Services Network

CWDC - Children’s Workforce Development Council

DCS - Director of Children's Services

IDeA - Improvement and Development Agency for local government

LAA - Local Area Agreement

LSP - Local Strategic Partnerships

PCT - Primary Care Trust

RIEPs - Regional Improvement and Efficiency Partnerships

SHAs - Strategic Health Authorities

SLA - Service Level Agreement
