The Commissioners’ Kitbag
The Commissioners Kitbag brings together a comprehensive suite of standalone, practical resources that CSP has developed with commissioners, in response to their priorities. The contents of the Kitbag are all designed to complement each other and we will be adding to them over the coming weeks. Do take a look around and email us if you have comments or suggestions.
The Kitbag – types of resource
In depth commissioning publications
These publications explore aspects of commissioning in detail. They include Good Commissioning:Principles and Practice which clearly sets out the characteristics of effective commissioning and can be seen as the entry point to all the other resources. We will be adding further resources to this area of the Kitbag.
We are producing a range of practical tools that commissioners can use in their day-to-day work. We will be adding further resources to this area of the Kitbag.
Highlighting the widest possible range of innovative and effective commissioning practice. The provision of good practice examples will be done through continued update and of the Good Practice Exchange directory, a limited number of fuller case studies and short video clips of commissioners talking about effective practice. Good practice examples will also encompass approaches to managing change/improvement.
Notes on effective commissioning
These notes explore specific aspects of effective commissioning practice. This may be in relation to an area of children and young people’s needs or a particular aspect of commissioning practice. The notes draw on the CSPs work with commissioners and draw on insights created through bespoke work, and regional and national activity. The notes are designed to be read alongside more in depth Kitbag resources and inform the use of some of the practical tools. We will be adding further notes on effective commissioning.
These short video clips feature commissioners talking about their own experiences of improving outcomes through commissioning. In each video we ask three simple questions which focus on the difference that commissioning activity has made to the lives of children and young people. If any commissioners would be interested in featuring in future clips then please email us.
These resources originally comprised the commissioning support e-book and were written by people who are actively involved in commissioning and wanted to share their knowledge and experience. The content reflects their challenges and concerns as well as exploring good practice in different aspects of the commissioning process. E-book articles represent the opinions of the authors and not the views of either the Commissioning Support Programme or any government department. Articles are hosted on the community area of this website.
The resources in the Commissioners’ Kitbag were developed during the period where CSP was funded by the Department of Education.
